Creative Direction for Guido Mosch film 'Saeurkraut'. This partnership also included Art Direction, Narrative, Editing, Set Design, Color Grading and Sound Design.
'Saeurkraut' takes inspiration from Germans eating Sauerkraut’, a painting by James Gilroy - deeply tied to Mosch's upbringing. This film is split into six chapters - Prelogue, Dem, Me, Him, Eltern, Prologue. The chapters speak to six elements of Mosch's mind that come together to form the world in which he creates from.
I sourced family photos from Mosch and used them as inspiration to build a world that took us into the era that Mosch grew up in. I used timely posters, prints, and props to stay true to the era - leaning into 1997-1998.
For sound design, I used everything from obscure German songs, to Ghanaian classics from the 50s, to UK radio samples of 'DJ Tuff Enuff' as a beat for Mosch's character to vogue to.
